Anthony Dorman's Project

100 Strangers Project

Anthony Dorman started the ‘100 Strangers Project’ a few years ago, as he has always been interested in portraiture and street photography. The project came as the perfect opportunity to transform his vision into a reality through the lens of his camera.

The ‘100 Strangers Project’ required Anthony to step out of his comfort zone in order to take the shots he hoped for. As he was taking pictures of strangers, it was important that he had full permission before clicking the button on his camera and posting it afterwards on his blog.

Every picture taken has an interesting story behind it. One of his first strangers is Andy ‘No Fear’ Hillhouse, a MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter. Another stranger is Ojay, a well-known bassist who performs in Northumberland Street. Today, Anthony has taken his 91st  stranger's portrait.

Homeless in Newcastle

It all started from a simple idea to engage and take photos with a variety of different and interesting looking people on the street. However, in the last few years, Anthony was capable of collecting an impressive portfolio in regards to homeless people. His experience over the years in dealing with homeless people has initiated him to begin a new project that looks at the serious issue of homelessness in Newcastle.

Anthony’s aim behind the project was not only to display the pictures of the homeless, but also to convey the bigger problem behind it. He hopes that his photographs will send the message across to people towards the seriousness of the issue.

One of his first photographs taken of homeless people in Newcastle is ‘Homeless Jimmy’.
